Covid 19

Pick-Up and Drop-Off

  • As we work under COVID-19 policies/guidelines, Playful Learners Preschool hours with remain 7:30am-5:30pm in effort to minimize the combining of classrooms per Department of Social Services regulations.

  • All parents MUST wear masks during drop-off and pick-up.

  • At drop-off, all children and teachers/staff must be screened prior to entering the classrooms. When the staffing is available throughout the center, we will strive to have a staff member positioned up front to assist with the screening. If you wish, in effort to reduce foot-traffic in the building, when the staffing is available, you may have a staff member escort your child to/from their classroom. We will make every effort to have the staffing available in the mornings/ evenings.

  • Those with a fever of 100.4 or above or other signs of illness will not be admitted to the facility.

  • During our common drop-off (7:30-9:00) and pick-up times (4:00-5:30) all teachers and staff member will wear masks in effort to minimize contact with families. Everyone is asked to follow the arrows for travel throughout the building during these times

  • Upon entering the classroom, please make sure to wash your child’s hands.

  • At this time, we are not requiring our staff members to wear masks at all times outside of the drop-off and pick-up times. If you would prefer that your child's teacher wear a mask when dealing directly with your child (for example: diaper changes/ feeding) please let us know and those accommodations can be made.

  • At this time, children will not be required to wear masks, but if you would like your child to wear one, their teacher can try to enforce this when possible.

Group Size (Per Phase 3 Guidelines)

  • Classroom group size is limited to 12 (including staff) for children under 4 years old provided age-based adult : child ratios are followed.

  • For children ages 4 and above, including school-aged children up to age 13, group size maximum is 22 (including staff) as long as social distancing can be maintained.

When to Stay Home

  • It is imperative that sick children remain at home. We ask that all families be vigilant for COVID-19 symptoms and communicate honestly and openly with the center regarding sickness.

  • In the event a child becomes sick or begin exhibiting symptoms in our care, the parent will be called and the child will be placed in an isolation area (such as a cot in the front office) with a staff member, in effort to isolate the sick child.

  • A child and/or staff member who is sent home or presents a fever/symptoms should stay home until they are symptom free (no cough or fever and no fever controlling medications) for at least 72 hours (as per CDC recommendation).

  • We ask that anyone exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 be tested.

If COVID-19 is Confirmed in a Staff Member, Child, or Family Member:

  • We expect any and all families/staff member to notify the center if exposure has occurred so that we have the opportunity to notify the affected parties as well as communicate with the local health department and our licensing inspector.

  • Anyone (child, family member, or staff) who has had close contact (defined by the CDC as being within 6 feet of someone for 10 minutes or more) with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 should remain home for 14 days after their last contact with the COVID-19 patient.

  • In the event of a positive case of COVID-19 in a family member, child, or staff member, Playful Learners will notify the local health department and our licensing inspector and follow all recommendations given by them. The course of action may include temporarily closing the classrooms or the entire facility. This decision will be determined in consultation with the local health department.

  • In the event of a positive case of COVID-19, Playful Learners Preschool will notify all families (ensuring confidentiality) of the incident as well as the decided course of action.
